Post by JKConeyNo, not a death announcement. I ran across the article I wrote that D
Brady put in his book, and made me wonder how my old pals are doing?
Anyone still around from 3 years ago?
I'm not sure about three years, plus I had a different account in the past
with a different name. I haven't been here in a while mostly because my
insanely-small-scale soldering is still absolutely horrible, and I've been
trying to perfect it. So I haven't done anything new in terms of technique -
just designing, and trying to do, tiny pieces. My first eventual goal is to
make small pieces (3" to 5" in diameter, using brass macrame'/"craft" rings
as the outside frame) incorporating non-glass things such as Swarovski
crystals (well, OK, technically they're a type of glass, but they're more
refractive), interesting stones, shell, and so on. Hopefully people will be
interested in buying these... My second eventual goal is to make miniature
real-stained-glass windows. Long story.
But soldering tiny stuff is HARD! Much more difficult than doing something
larger, because even the tiniest flaw is awfully glaring because of the small
overall size.
So, it's just not anything that's particularly exciting to write about...
